This Wednesday, we celebrated the great achievement of Rochester's newest Chess Master Lev Paciorkowski.  A chess player attains the Master title when he achieves a 2200 chess rating.  Lev, a sixteen year-old student at Brighton High School, is ranked 36th in the United States for his age group.  Lev is a frequent Rochester Chess Center camp counselor and is a member of the Brighton HS chess team.  Lev plays USCF-rated chess games on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and is one of our most active players. We wish all the best of luck to Lev and we are certain that many more achievements are on the way.
Congratulations to Lev Paciorkowski, Chess Master - who attained a rating of 2200+

The Saturday Youth Tournament - Results for April 23rd:
Today's Champion was Tanush Senthil Kumar
who was the overall 1st Place winner with 3 points!
Since one trophy per player is given
out monthly in the Youth tournament, the trophy was awarded
to the next highest scoring chess player.  Today, this meant having
a couple blitz playoff games to break the ties.
Mimi Ugalde (right, picture below) won her blitz
playoff game to become today's trophy winner!
Mimi's sister, Susie, stands with her to celebrate.
Congratulations also to Linden Burack and Christopher Gargan
who also scored 2 points, but lost in the blitz playoffs.

Here are some photos from the Youth chess tournament
held this morning at the Rochester Chess Center, April 23, 2016.
