RCC Saturday tournament results for December 28, 2013


Saturday Morning Youth Tournament Final Standings:
1st: Arianna Kharroubi with 3.5 points
2nd: Aidan Kharroubi with 3 points (Trophy winner)
3rd: Jason Niu with 2.5 points
4th: Joshua Iosevich, Nathan Girnius and Meka Revathi with 1 point each


Today, we also celebrate the 90th birthday 
of local chess player and chess teacher

Rounding out the week, here are the Final Standings from this past week's Community Chess Club of Rochester's (CCCR) games played on Thursday, Dec. 26th:

Ken McBride lost to Sherman Cunningham
Mike Lionti lost to Alex Iosevich
Doug Spencer won against NM Laszlo Tapaszto
Jim Attaya won against David Worl

Reminders:
The Community Chess Club of Rochester (CCCR) will be having their USCF-rated G/80d5 game on THURSDAY (Jan. 2nd) because the regular Wednesday schedule falls on New Years Day. The Chess Center is also open for chess and store sales on the Saturday during the upcoming holiday.



  CHESS CAMP is taking place this week at the Rochester Chess Center! Aquire chess skills from their excellent teachers and have lots of fun too!

RCC Saturday tournament results for December 21, 2013


Saturday Morning Youth Tournament Final Standings: 
1st: Arianna Kharroubi and Thomas Kwon with 2 points each
3rd: Aidan Kharroubi

Saturday Afternoon Adult Tournament Final Standings:
Open Section:
1st and 2nd place  tie: Jacob Chen and Sherm Cunningham with 2.5 points each
U2000: David Phelps with 2 points
U1876: Doug Spencer with 2 points

U1700 Section:
1st: Ethan Yung with 2.5 points
2nd: Patrick Chernjavsky, Mike Lionti, Samuel Liu, and Michael David with 2 points each

Before the Adult chess tournament, we celebrated Sherman Cunningham's 58th birthday and had a party with pizza, cookies and cake. Sherman had a wonderful day over the chess board finishing with 2.5 in a tie for 1st place in the Open section.

2nd: Achutha Ramesh with 1.5 points
3rd: Anirudh Ramesh with 0.5 point

NM Laszlo Tapaszto (at right, 2200) visiting from Caracas Venezula defeated Richard Motroni (1712) in a beautiful game in round 2 of the Chess Center's Saturday afternoon Adult tournament.
Pahz Cherelin (left, 1285) played a magnificent game against John Manning (1815), but lost in a close end-game.

Arianna Kharroubi (right) won her game against Joshua Iosevich in the Chess Center's Saturday morning youth tournament. Arianna went on to win the 1st place trophy.
The Youth tournament is every Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
The Adult tournament is every Saturday from 2pm-8pm, 3 Rds G/60d5 with registration by 1:45pm.
